memory consumption

Note:
Before bug reporting, please make sure you have tried the latest (alpha) version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app's "Crash Reports" section.

Describe the bug
Not sure how to describe it, but ever since the new macOS update, the memory consumption has been huge (around 500 MB of RAM while idle). I haven’t changed or touched my setup.

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):
Mac performance

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem. (You can just paste or drag them here)

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: M1 MacBook Pro 16 GB of Ram
  • macOS version:26.1
  • BetterTouchTool version: 5.759

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

if you have opened the UI (or have features active that show UI) this is normal. Especially if you still have enough free ram, the system rather keeps stuff quickly accessible instead of unecessarily clearing it.

If you restart BTT and don’t open the UI the memory usage will be lower.

In 5.761 alpha I have changed the behavior so it immediately releases the memory once the BTT window is closed. Probably makes more sense for most users.

Much better, but then again I never had the actual UI opened. For info, I use it for the Touch Bar.

175MB is completely normal it won't go much lower than unless you use only very basic features like keyboard shortcuts.
