Magic Mouse gestures trigger without touching the mouse buttons

I’m experiencing false gesture detection with my Magic Mouse.

I have the following gestures configured only for Firefox:

-Swipe Left

-Swipe Right

-TipTap Left

-TipTap Right

Occasionally these gestures are triggered even when I’m not touching the Magic Mouse at all. T

I also tried adding additional trigger conditions such as:

  • fingers_touching_magic_mouse == 2 AND magic_mouse_touch_duration >= 0.05

However, the false triggers still occur.

Environment:

  • MacBook Pro M1 Pro
  • macOS Sequoia
  • BetterTouchTool 6.622
  • Apple Magic Mouse

there have been some (few) cases of faulty hardware producing phantom touches in the past, possibly check BTT's live view (View => Show Live View) to see whether there are any strange touches showing up.

Since it appears once in a while, approximately once every ten minutes, does it make sense watch the BTT live view to prove that it somehow been triggered? Simultaneously, unfortunately it does not make it any less annoying ...

Since this is one of the main use case for me, do you have any way to identify this problem?

Thank you!

usually just watching the live view for a bit will tell you whether there are phantom touches or not. In general the gesture recognition is only active if the mouse is being touched, thus triggering without touch is basically impossible unless the mouse is faulty
