Lost all my Triggers. (Time Machine Backup can't fix it.)

I’m using BetterTouchTool version 5.381 on my Mac Mini Apple M2 Sequoia 15.4.1.

Today, I woke up to a problem with BTT. I’ve been working with it for about a week, and then suddenly, all my triggers disappeared. When I was about to launch Configuration, I noticed a warning message below it: “BetterTouchTool is currently disabled (see below).” I don’t understand where the message is referring to, as there’s no information provided. I thought maybe the version was the issue, so I updated it. Still, nothing changed.

I decided to restore from my Time Machine backup. I restored to a saved version from yesterday morning, August 5, 2025. Relaunching BTT, all my triggers reappeared, and I was so relieved. However, I clicked on the application again, and everything disappeared again.

I decided to repeat the process to screen-capture the desktop. I’m including those screenshots and the files from your Diagnostic bug information.

I can't seem to add the Debug folder. It doesn't recognize the extensions.
I hope I've given enough information to help me restore all my Triggers.

do you have the experimental dropbox/icloud sync enabled in the settings?

I’m not entirely certain. I reviewed those settings the previous day, but I couldn’t comprehend them, so I don’t think I made any changes. However, I’m always exploring and learning about the capabilities of BTT. Therefore, it’s possible that I inadvertently modified something.

Fortunately, I managed to resolve the issue. I performed a complete uninstall, rebooted my machine, reinstalled the software, and then utilized my Time Machine backup from two days prior. Everything seems to be working correctly now.

Thanks for the reply!

I’m not sure whether I should open a new thread or not, but I’m experiencing a similar issue.

Today, everything I had set up in the app suddenly disappeared…

After some research, it seems the problem might be related to iCloud synchronization, but I didn’t do anything unusual that could have caused this.

I tried deleting the folder /Users/mbp162021/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool and the file com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool.plist, then restoring a Time Machine backup — but nothing worked.

It feels like my settings flash on the screen for a brief moment before the interface goes completely blank.

I also tried restoring the files while offline, thinking that iCloud might be automatically syncing and overwriting them, but that didn’t help either.

One more thing: I noticed there’s a com.hegenberg.bettertouchtool-setapp.plist file present, although I never used BTT through Setapp.

Thanks for your help!
