Lost a lot of presets after updating

Hello, since the new update that I just carried out, I lost a lot of presets after updating to version 4.643. It's only when going back to the old version that they work again and reappear. I am currently using version 4.619 (46180). Could you find a solution? Best regards.

did you possibly upgrade to a newer version inbetween these versions and then downgrade again?

I don't remember having performed any updates since I got version 4.619 (46180). What I don't understand is that as soon as I downgrade, the presets reappear again.

then that's weird.
Could you check the ~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool/ folder and check whether there are any data files for versions inbetween?

Your presets reappear because BTT keeps the last few databases separate, so users can up and downgrade. When using an older version it's loading the database for that older version. However, upgrading, downgrading and then upgrading to another version can be problematic and might need some manual changes

The content of the folder with the various databases, if this can help you better understand the problem

Ah you had 4.621 installed briefly.
Quit BTT, then try to delete all files marked here (all below and including the 4.621 files. Maybe backup the folder before trying. Then start BTT again:

Thank you for the reply, it is working again

This happened to me today and the day before. I needed to make sure it was not me. I never went back to an older version tho.

After updating from alpha build 4.728 to 4.729, I noticed my newer presets I made before this build were gone so I had to make them again. Then 4.730 was released but this time I had made a backup so I just re-imported. Today, with 4.731, I did another restoration because this one was also problematic.

Yes, I love new updates lol but maybe I should stick to stable builds? Rn, I'm doing what is suggested above like deleting some files.

pretty sure this is not related to alpha builds, there are always hundreds of users who update to the latest.

Maybe there is some sort of file permission issue with your BTT folder? Did you recently install any syncing software or enable the experimental sync in BetterTouchTool itself?

BTT always creates a backup before upgrading, so you can always restore to the previous setup.

Thank you. No, the synchronization setting is currently off. I also didn't install any syncing software

Good to know I can restore to the previous step.

then i’d recommend to create a backup of btt’s data folder (~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool) and delete it afterwards. BTT will recreate it with correct permissions on next start but you’ll need to reimport your settings

There was indeed a potential issue in the latest alphas that could lead to BTT choosing the wrong database when loading. This should be fixed in 4.733 alpha!

I just updated BTT and I can confirm this was fixed in 4.733. Thank you.
