Looking for a modern "Volume Scroll" alternative

Hi everyone! I'm trying to find a stable alternative to the old Volume Scroll 1.0.17 app.

My goal is simple: I want to change the system volume by scrolling the mouse wheel (or trackpad) anywhere over the macOS menu bar, without holding any modifier keys (like Cmd or Option).

I've tried:

  • BetterTouchTool: I can't seem to find the "Scroll Over Menubar" trigger in the latest version.

  • LinearMouse: It requires a modifier key to change volume.

  • MonitorControl: Only works when scrolling specifically over its own icon.

Does anyone know a modern, stable app (preferably Apple Silicon native) that can do this? Thanks!

ah, by default BTT doesn't allow scroll triggers from trackpad or magic mouse, however there is a hidden setting to allow it. With v6.118 (uploading now) I have made that setting available in the UI:
