Last update messed with tracking speed and broke switch desktop action

BTT v6.590

Latest MacOS

Mouse movements are very slow, i don't even have any such config in my BTT settings.

And desktop switching just does not work anymore.

if you had used a previous alpha you might need to adjust the mouse speed settings in your logitech mouse configuration once. However there have not been changes to standard space switching, maybe your mouse is not recognized at all right now? (check the logitech mouse configuration)
Or maybe the button 12 is not recognized?

The smooth space switch has been improved (but tested by hundreds of users already) this should be much smoother now. (instead of switch to space 1 / 2 you can assign the start smooth space switch action)

For standard space switching BTT relies in the shortcuts defined in System Settings-> Keyboard-> Shortcuts - possibly something is weird there? (macOS would show a warning :warning: next to the space switch shortcuts if there is an issue)

Space switch required disable and enable that action then it started to work again. But that mouse speed, I dont use any logitch software for my mouse at all, since BTT made functions avaliable for log mouses, but i had to move mouse speed knob forth and back in my mac mouse settings which fixed this issue, but then again after mac went sleep and I logged back in, speed was slow again. So i downgraded for now, cant test anything. BTW no i did not had Alfa, i only download and install when General updates come out.

the mouse speed control is available in your BetterTouchTool's Logitech Mouse Configuration (which you need to add if you want to use a Logitech mouse): Logitech Mouse Support | BetterTouchTool Documentation

Ok installed up to date version. and i still cant get my mouse pointer speed as it was working before. BTW i never had to configure any of those setings you show in picture. I have that Logitech Mouse Configuration added as you see in my initial picture, but i never configured my mouse speed there. It was configured in my mac settings and it worked fine. Now i tried this: Use system pointer speed, which does not work. Yes i click that apply settings button when i update any settings. There is definitelly some bug, because when open my mac pointer settings and move that slider forth and back my cursor starts to work again as it should. But as soon as my mac screen goes dark, like log off, and then i fingerprint scan log back on mouse cusros is slow again.

I was not able to get it back in normal speed i would like, i tried to change those settings in

Configuration bloch, but all i was able to get is some extremly fast speed or vry slow. nothing in the middle. Any suggestions? Do i need to send you some logs or anything?
Thanks

Mh it could be something specific to the M720. Could you check with 6.601 alpha? It should now make sure the speed defined in system settings is reapplied when BTT initialized and "Use System Settings" is selected.

Hi, v6.605 was available, and it seems by 90% fixed the issue. Still it is hard to explain but works little bit different than native settings. Not a big deal anymore, but if i have to guess its something related to point acceleration setting. If i disable it mouse is expremely fast like half mm mouse move shoots cursor over all screen. With enabled it seems that setting seems is not taken into consideration. But move speed seems okay now.

I still cant find a way to get back that desktop switching. The problem i see now is when i click gesture button on my mouse it triggers app expose action. But it triggers it even if have BTT closed, so it must be some OS level issue with some OS updates maybe? I cant even get BTT recognize this button anymore, because as soon as i click it, it triggers app expose. Maybe you have some idea of how to disable that default behavior? I tried to disable all possible actions in System Settings for gestures, but nothing helps.

You can set up stuff like this in System Settings => Desktop & Dock => Shortcuts... (on the very bottom)

Not very intuitive -

Not sure i understand, the best i could get in that system shortcuts was. Nothing happens when i press S letter. There is only those F1 available.

Also as soon as i change something there, that gesture button stops acting like App[ Exposure but goes into Arrow up mode. Lol. Some weird stuff.

your screenshot shows you don't have a mouse shortcut set up for that button, so this is not coming from the system.

I can check with my M720 tomorrow, but last time I tried all buttons were recognized correctly :-/

Yes please, when i started this thread disabling and then enabling that gesture + swipe configuration item in BTT fixed that desktop swipe, but I suspect there is some changes with MacOS 26.5.2 as this is the only big thing i have changed since last time used Mouse.

Reading your post again, I think maybe something is messed up in System Settings => Keyboard => Shortcuts => Mission Control

Could you post a screenshot of how this looks on your machine?

Yes, there it is. There again if i try to change anything in Mission Control, guesture button starts to act like a arrow up. I have not changed anything there since i remeber. No idea. Thanks

unfortunately that looks all fine :-/

I tried with my M720, but all is working correctly here.
Maybe try to delete the Logitech Mouse Configuration from BTT and add a new one.

That didnt help. :frowning: Thanks anyway. But seems something else is messed up, because removing that configuration and closing BTT at all, does not change a thing.

Installed Logitech Options+ app and then configured my actions there. Obvious that shit started to scream about Secure Input in a while and all configuration stopped working. But switching desktops worked there. Then uninstalled it with command BTT showed me, and now everything is working again for me.

BTW its weird because even if i see that Secure input notification in BTT my configuration still works fine, but it does not in Option+, Does BTT goes deeper and are able to disable or manage this Secure input for other apps?

Hope it will not break again.

for mouse button configuration BTT should not be limited by secure input - not sure why logitech options would be!

Glad it is working now, maybe last time the Logitech uninstall did not work correctly causing the issue

I was happy too fast. Just restarted my Mac and problem came back. This time at first no configuration worked, and it showed iTerm holding Secure inpout in BTT, then i closed iTerm and restarted BTT and at least other button configurations working again, except that gesture and swipe desktops config. :smiling_face_with_tear:
