I didn't see this option anywhere, but I think it could be super useful for adjusting keyframe graphs in Premiere or painting with apps like Photoshop!
I have added this in the 5.542 alpha. There are now 4 new actions:
- Start Blocking X AXIS Mouse Movements
- Stop / End Blocking X AXIS Mouse Movements
- Start Blocking Y AXIS Mouse Movements
- Stop / End Blocking Y AXIS Mouse Movements
Here is an example preset that freezes the X position when holding cmd+ctrl (configured via key sequences):
axis-lock.bttpreset (6.7 KB)
Ok first of all, thank you for actually doing this man!! this is really close to being perfection, but I did notice that when moving the mouse really precisely it can be a tiny bit slow, like i have to move it a lot for it to actually move a significant amount, but that only happens when I need to move precise stuff on screen.
If there's any chance you can fix it, that'll be AMAZING dude ![]()
Thanks
mh I don't think this changes the mouse speed (I can't actually modify that as far as I know), are you observing different speed with this enabled than usually?
I can see that the mouse speed it technically the same, but it's probably the correction mechanism that's locking the mouse to the x axis that's causing this.
Here's a zoomed in video of something I'm trying to adjust while this is active, I'm moving the mouse at a relatively consistent speed, but the movement onscreen is a little jarring. This only happens when moving the mouse pretty slowly and precisely.
Worth nothing: it's not that noticeable all the time haha
Ah I think I found the issue, hopefully fixed in 5.547 (uploading)
//edit: unfortunately not fixed completely - I'll have a look tomorrow, maybe I can find a better solution!
Perfect, yeah this is better but still not 100% there, if you manage to find a better fix that'd be awesome
I think that right now it works fine for just moving the mouse but once I click and drag it goes back to something similar to how it used to be
Hey man, did you happen to find anything? (No worries if not)
I tried a bit more with some apps, but couldn’t see issues with the current alphas anymore. Does it still behave weird with Premiere/Photoshop? I‘ll try with Photoshop later.
I didn't actually try photoshop, I just thought it could be a good use case theoretically. With premiere (and in general) though, I found that it's fine when just moving the mouse, and when clicking and dragging to the left, it works great, for some reason, it happens only when I click and drag to the right...
Here's an example, BTT Alpha 5.549
Dragging left works fine, right is buggy for some reason
I think it was a subpixel rounding issue. Could you check whether 5.550 solves this for you ? (uploading now)
That fixed it! Thanks man!
