i sometimes get this window, and wonder if it is possible to close it somehow??
This window means BTT can not work because the system reports the required permissions are not granted. That's why there is no way to remove this window.
You can run this terminal command:
defaults write com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool BTTDisableAcccessibilityCheck YES
which will make the window not show up - but it will be very confusing when BTT doesn't work without any hint.
ok hint is great, i want to be informed. but, i read that sometimes i need to disabled and enabled permissions - to fix some broken things. is this right? afterwards the window is still open? so how do i close it afterwards?
as soon as the system reports the required permissions are granted, the window will go away / show another screen that allows to close.
Enabling/disabling permissions usually does nothing, deleting the app from the permissions page and re-adding it again does sometimes help. If your macOS tcc database is corrupted, only resetting it will help - however sometimes resetting it just for one app is enough. It is important that the app in question is quit, otherwise your system might freeze when executing this terminal command:
sudo tccutil reset All com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool
ah. cool. it seems to work now. thank you. does the beta version need to call home when used? or can i disable internet?
you can disable internet access completely unless you need features that use it (webviews, ai, etc.)
