Hyper Key toggle/sticky

Dear Folivora makers,

would it be possible to ask for a toggle option for the Hyper Key function (like a regular Caps Lock)? This would facilitate a highly specialized user case involving using the Mac keyboard as a piano keyboard with Dorico 6.

Sincerely, Øystein

Here is a toggle preset:
toggle-capslock.bttpreset (14.3 KB)

When pressing capslock first it enables hyperkey, when pressing it again it disables hyper key again.

It works by
1.) Remapping the default capslock to do nothing:

2.) A key sequence with an if condition depending on whether modifier keys are pressed or not:

That's pretty clever  But, mmh, sometimes these setups don't work for me. Either a modifier remains pressed or something else goes wrong. Maybe it's different for others.

BTT has the ingenious feature of blocking the keyboard. So if you don't necessarily need all these modifiers ... with block/unblock the keyboard everything always works perfectly for me. And you can do pretty much the same and even more, because several letters can be used as a trigger.

Just saying :slightly_smiling_face:

I am unsure how blocking the keyboard would help me here. Maybe you could point me to some examples or something?

I shouldn't have posted that. Ignore it. Have you tried Andreas' preset? That's a clever solution. If it works for you, great. :slightly_smiling_face:

On the contrary, I am very interested in solutions that I haven't thought of, so I would be happy for an explanation of your suggestion.

Dear Andreas,
Thank you for your incredible quick and helpful support!
This goes a very long way towards my goal, however, in contrast to the Hyper Key function, this messes with the touchpad left and right click (as one would expect) and the deletebutton (among others). Is there any way around this somewhere in BetterTouchtool?
Sincerely, Øystein

the hyper key would also mess with these keys, wouldn't it? I think there is no way around it because either the modifier keys are pressed (and therefore modify the other keys / clicks behavior) or not

Yes sorry, it is the same with the Hyper Key. I accidentally sent you an old version of the reply I had prepared, the new one said "similar to the Hyper key"... sorry about that!
And thank you for the clarification!

By the way, I have used your incredibly useful tool for many years now, helping me in a lot of different ways!
