Hyper key + remapped Caps Lock

So, I have a long history of mapping the caps lock key to control and the left control key to caps lock. I would like to now map that left control key to be a Hyper Key. However, when I try to set up a keyboard shortcut, things get wonky:

  • BTT detects the left control key as caps lock and creates the keyboard shortcut correctly.
  • However, once it’s set up
    • Pressing the left control key does nothing (and in the keyboard viewer doesn’t display anything)
    • Pressing the caps lock key triggers the Hyper Key behavior (meaning that I’ve completely lost my control behavior.

Is this a bug? Any thoughts on a solution (if not) or workaround (if so)?
