how to stop the screen record message box popups?

I know that better touch wants to have permission to capture my screen. I do not want this.

  1. it keeps on popping up a blue box telling me its recording my screen on the top menu bar if I was to enable it. It is desecrating and messes up my icons on the top, not to mention if it says its recording my screen what is to say it is not trying to record something it isn't supposed to
  2. if I turn off the allow screen record, the functionality of the software still seems to work just fine except for every hour it seems to pop up a dialog menu saying that I wants access to record my screen. you can close down that menu and everything still functions fine. so clearly it doesn't need that access for that I am doing.

is there a setting or document on how to setup better touch tool so that you can just run the software without the record screen function. I get there will be some features of functions that will not work but if you don't need them it would be preferable than constantly getting a dialog box that you must keep closing.

in general BTT only shows this message once. Which version of macOS are you running?

this is what I am greeted with multiple times a day.. every time the screen turns on (open MacBook). I am on 14.2.1. As I use my macBook and Mac mini for music production work, id prefer to stick with a single version of macOS. the later versions of Sonoma had dire issues with plugins and iLok not working. id prefer to limit my computer issues to the least amount of trouble.

the option for the status icon I thought was turned off.

ah you have the status item widget added in a floating menu (in the floating menu section ). This works by capturing the original status items, thus screen recording is required for this.

You can delete that widget if the whole floating menu if you don’t need that
