How to edit source code of a trigger directly

I know if I right-click on a trigger it copies the source code to the clipboard. If I go to the Apple Notes app and paste I can see this kind of business

I assumed if I made a change to this code and then copied it, I would then be able to paste it back into BTT but it's not working. What am I missing?

this works. However it is not officially supported and the different keys and possible values are not documented. It’s mostly for sharing configuration.

Make sure to use a plain text texteditor, notes is bad for such things.
