How do submenus work?

Hi, I'm trying out floating menus in a desperate attempt to replicate the now missing touch bars from the new Macs. I have a Floating Menu with a submenu, and I can put actions within the floating menu as well as within the submenu.

But I can't seem to put a submenu within the submenu. The "Folder with plus sign" icon is missing at the bottom of the BTT Configuration window.

If I create a standard item, but change it to a Sub Menu, I can't seem to open it like I'd expect a submenu to open. (Like the previous submenu, or like the touchbar submenu within a submenu.)

I hope that makes sense. I'm not sure how to add pictures here to demonstrate the problem.

Currently Floating Menus only support one level of submenus. It is on the roadmap to allow deeper nesting.

You can kind of workaround it by using the "Open Specific Submenu in Floating Menu" action and adding more disabled top level submenus

Thank you. Too hard. And I'm not liking the way it overlays other elements of the screen.

I'm trying Stream Deck instead & think this might work okay. I have a Stream Deck question, but will open a new topic on it.

Here's an idea for submenus for the Floating Menus. Is there a way the touchpad can be used to navigate the floating menus without using the on-screen pointer? What I mean for example is: Quadruple 4-finger tap (example!) to bring up floating menu, which is shown on screen & divided into a 3x3 grid. Tap the top left of the touchpad to select the top left floating menu item. Tap the centre of the touchpad to select the centre floating menu item, etc. The touchpad directly corresponds to the floating menu, without needing to actually navigate to the floating menu.

Not sure if that's possible to commandeer the touchpad in that way, but just wondering...

yes that is possible, currently it would require manually setting up these touch areas in BTT though. Maybe I‘ll add an automatic „Touch Mode“ that can be activated when showing a Floating Menu
