Hover Preview for Clipboard Manager Items

BTT’s Clipboard Manager is already very powerful, but as a trackpad user, I find the current interaction a bit cumbersome.

Right now, I need to click an item in the clipboard list before I can preview its contents. It would be much more convenient if the preview could appear automatically when I hover over a list item, without requiring a click.

This would make browsing clipboard history much faster and more fluid, especially for trackpad users.

For reference, Alfred uses a similar interaction, and it feels very natural:

I’d love to see something like this supported in BTT.

This is the only real friction point I’ve run into with BTT’s Clipboard Manager, so I’d really appreciate any feedback on whether this could be considered.

This is not what you want, but if the BTT Clipboard Manager is open and in focus, you can navigate using the arrow keys.

If you prefer to use the trackpad, an Advanced Condition would be an option.

If Clipboard Manager is open, a swipe down corresponds to the down arrow, and a swipe up corresponds to the up arrow.

@Andreas_Hegenberg Any reason why Smooth Scroll action doesn’t work in CM? Could solve OP question nicely.

Thanks for the reply, and I really appreciate the workaround you suggested. I tried it, but it still doesn’t quite fit my use case.

  1. Each up/down swipe only triggers one Up/Down arrow action. What I need is repeated continuous navigation from repeated swipes. In practice, this ends up being less efficient than just using the arrow keys directly.
  2. I mainly use the trackpad and am not used to switching to the keyboard. If I have to move my hand from the trackpad to the keyboard and then back again, it feels inefficient as well.

Key repeat is your friend :slightly_smiling_face: This repeats the action as long as your fingers are on the trackpad. For example like this:

It's in German, but you'll figure it out

Could you please point me to where this feature is? I might be overlooking it, but I’ve been searching for quite a while and still haven’t been able to find it.

I copied this from the BTT Manual. At least it's in English
