GoldenChaos-BTT "Sound up" widget vanished when upgrading to Catalina

Since recently upgrading to Catalina (all updates applied) the modified Touchbar shows no "volume up" any more, there seems no response to changes in its' own preferences, it's checked within GoldenChaos-BTT. The settings within GoldenChaos-BTT seem not to be reflected in the Touchbar.

I tried removing the preset, and reinstalling from scratch, no dice, reapplying settings… no way.
MBP 15'' German system Catalina 10.15.7

Any ideas?!

Follow Up:

A Restart of my machine fixed this in so far the settings of GoldenChaos-BTT seem to be respected, BUT:
The whole toolbar seems not to properly load, showing "Applying settings, please wait… " without any change (and through yet another restart).

Suggestions what to do?

And now yet another update to this: "check for existing settings" did restore proper behaviour.
