I have the Right Finger Tap Trigger setup for Command+H, which Hides the current application window. It's disabled for the Finder. I'm having a bizarre behavior.
I may have any combination of 1, 2, or 3+ application windows open and when I'm not even touching the Magic Mouse (USB-C) all of the apps will all of sudden auto-hide themselves. Literally not even touching the Magic Mouse.
The Magic Mouse never did this previously, it was only after installing BetterTouchTool and assigning the Command+H trigger. I don't even have anything configured to hide all app windows and, as far as I know, macOS doesn't even have a keyboard shortcut to hide all application windows at once.
I've tried everything I've found in this forum, but nothing has fixed this issue. I've even tried the Live View window to diagnosis, but it doesn't even show that anything was even touched when this happens. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help me before I lose my mind LOL
the closest would be the opt+cmd+h shortcut that hides all other applications or BetterTouchTool's "Hide All Windows" action (which however needs to be configured explicitly). Depending on the configuration your cmd+h trigger could trigger opt+cmd+h if the option key is also being held at the time.
Maybe check BetterTouchTool's "Recently Used" section when this happens.
Hi, thank you for the quick reply! I'll should have included this information. Not only am I not touching the Magic Mouse, I also am not touching the keyboard when this happens. That's why this seems that it could only be BetterTouchTool. "Recently Used" is in the Live View window, correct? Nothing is displayed there when this happens. If I completely disable BetterTouchTool this ghost triggering issue does not happen, hence, why I'm reaching out here for help. I'm going to disable the Command+H / Right Finger Tap Trigger and see if it still happens. It happens a few times every hour & it's slowly driving me mad. LOL Thanks!
Yup, I found it after you had mentioned it actually, sorry, I should have said that, but when it happens that log does not show anything being triggered. How is that even possible? Bug?
in that case it is almost certainly not triggered by BetterTouchTool. It could be some weird interaction with another app, but I can't really think of anything right now. In general BTT can only trigger the things configured in it (and for Magic Mouse triggers that requires touching the mouse)
Ok, gotcha, but when I completely turn off BTT this does not happen, so how am I supposed to diagnosis this? I don't run any other Magic Mouse mapping software.
you mentioned it is happening without touching the magic mouse, so the magic mouse part is probably not relevant.
It's hard to diagnose such things, usually watching for exact patterns as to when this happens, or maybe looking at the logs from the macOS console app could help (nowadays it might help to point claude or codex AI at the logs and ask it to figure out what is happening)
Are you sure all active windows are being hidden or are there some that stay visible?
How often does this happen, can you reproduce the issue? You could try to enable the hud option to see whether maybe the tiptap / cmd+h shortcut is triggered many times for whatever reason:
No, I can not replicate it, it's completely random. I can make that trigger. Make it exactly like you showed in the screenshot? I will. What will this do?
In the meantime I have been experimenting. I disabled the Command+H trigger and installed MultiTouch and only configured the right finger tap for Command+H and it's been working perfectly fine for over an hour now. BTT ghost trigger happens about a dozen random times during an hour.
