Fourth column always visible in trigger overview (latest alpha)

In the latest alpha version, a fourth column is always visible in the trigger overview.
Previously, clicking a folder would open it directly and only show its triggers, but now the extra column remains permanently displayed.

yup, I'm currently experimenting with always showing the first level contents of any selected folder/collection. Currently I think this works really well, e.g. for floating menus

However you can disable this in the User Interface settings, there is a checkbox about the folder navigation at the very bottom

Sorry, I completely missed that checkbox!
Actually, I think the 4-column view is not bad at all — it even feels easier to handle in some cases.
However, sometimes the columns behaved a bit strangely for me.
Anyway, I’ll keep testing it and will report back if I notice anything specific.

would be great, it's a very first implementation! Maybe I'll also decide to only do it like this for certain trigger types

I like the idea of the fourth column :slightly_smiling_face: However, the problem with folders remains that you cannot search for triggers in them... with or without a fourth column.

I find the fourth column really helpful – it makes working in BetterTouchTool much easier, especially when you frequently switch between different triggers and sections.

However, something that has been bothering me for a very long time is the inconsistent column sizing. The width of the individual columns changes all the time – sometimes they’re wider, sometimes narrower – there’s no consistency or logic to it.

The settings under “... Column min width” in the BetterTouchTool preferences don’t seem to have any lasting effect. The column widths do change when you confirm the value with Enter, but after closing and reopening the BetterTouchTool window, the widths are completely reset again.

Andreas, would it be possible to replace “min width” with a fixed “width” setting instead? Something that defines a definitive, persistent column width that actually stays the same between sessions? This would make managing and navigating in BTT much more consistent and predictable.

Hi ! I’m also fighting constantly with columns size, especially in streamdeck view and in triggers view. Even when i want to resize commun, it automatically resize it self to a smaller width. I’ll check that preferences checkbox id it can help.

+1 for some kind of consistent column behavior, both show/hide and width (each of which addresses a different issue).

+1 for 4-columns view. Seems much more rational to me, and better long-term (but my use is almost entirely Floating Menus, with some Trackpad gestures). My greatest attraction to BetterTouchTool and Floating Menus is that it lets me create controls that are always in the same place (relative to a frame). That’s how my mind and my memory work – I always know where I left or store anything.
