Folders start appearing titled - (A Document Being Saved By Sparkle)

Hello,
Been using BTT for a couple years. Recently when looking at my mac's Applications folder there are many folders with the title "(A Document Being Saved By Sparkle)" and inside it says "BetterTouchTool.app"

To reiterate there are a few of these folders, not just one. So the second folder is called "(A Document Being Saved By Sparkle 2)" and so on. Every folder has the same file as above.

Anyone know what is happening and more importantly how to get it to stop?

Weird, these are created during updates (Sparkle is the updater framework BTT uses), however should be deleted immediately after. Only if BTT would crash during or right after the upgrade process it could fail to delete them.

I think there has been an issue with one previous update where BTT crashed a few times. Maybe that's what created the folders.

I noticed many of these folders in my applications folder a few weeks ago. Trashed them and checked again today - and there were two. It seems that it’s still going on for me.

I trashed those folders again today and will check again in a few days to see if they come back.

Thank you for replying yesterday. Wanted to update that since yesterday 4 new folders appeared in my Applications folder. Uploaded a screenshot.

Is there anything that can me done to stop this from happening? Would there be anything you need from me to help figure this out?

Unfortunately this is the first time I have heard about this, thus no idea what could cause it. I'd try to download a fresh copy of BTT manually via folivora.ai - Great Tools for your Mac!

I also have this issue. I delete them and eventually they reappear. Backups show them appearing around November 14.

the crashlog suggests this might be related to the experimental dropbox/icloud sync, which I’ll replace with something different anyways soon.
I’d recommend to disable the sync as it has caused various other issues recently.

I keep getting those Sparkle folders as well. I don't have sync enabled.

I have had this exact same problem spring up on a few different macOS devices through the last several years.

Does it perhaps have something to do with the two separate pages of "Update" settings? Note:

1. Under Standard Settings>Basic>General, there is a "Enable automatic update checking"
2. Under Advanced>General>General Stuff>Updates, there is "Enable automatic update checking" and "Silently download & install..."

I've tried turning off most of these settings to see if the problem resolves itself.

I have this problem as well. However, I do not have your product. My folders have a "stopped" whatsapp app in it.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that it started when I installed CleanMyMac x (although that might be wrong).

I don't know if the others with the problem have it installed.

That's interesting, I had cleanmymac x installed as well.
I haven't had this problem in a while but did have it installed when it happened, so perhaps it's related.
