Floating menu opens with Cmd + 6, but not Shift + 6

My floating menu previously worked with Shift + 6, but stopped appearing maybe middle of September, I believe after an update. BTT still detects the shortcut (its HUD appears), but the menu does not open.

I have 3 more comparable floating menus, and all triggers (Shift + 6/7/8/9) stopped working.

To reproduce with Shift + 6 (also see the attached files):

  1. Assign “Show Floating Menu” to Shift + 6 → HUD appears, menu does not.

  2. Change only the shortcut to Cmd + 6 → the same menu opens correctly.

This also happens with a completely new menu and a new trigger containing only “Show Floating Menu”. Assigning Paste (Cmd + V) to Shift + 6 works correctly.

Restarting both BTT and the Mac did not help.

Affected input device:

Keyboard.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Air

  • macOS version: macOS Tahoe 26.5.1

  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.944

The issue also occurred with BTT 6.885 (and maybe earlier, not sure). There is no crash; the menu simply does not appear.

Thanks,
Martin

Your shift based shortcut works fine here to show the menu, I currently can't see anything wrong with it.

Is secure input input active on your machine? BTT would show a warning about that:

There have been macOS versions where shift based triggers where restricted while secure input was active - however then the HUD also should not appear.

Hello Andrea, thank you for the quick reaction!

No, "secure input" doesn't seem to be active.

It's so strange that it a) worked before and b) still works with other shortcuts.

just to be sure, this shows a hud on your machine, correct?

No, it doesn't:

HUD.bttpreset

But if I change it to cmd+6 it does show the HUD.
