Hi,
After updating to the newest version 5.566, none of the icons change back to their normal state when you no longer hover over them.
I think it could be fixed again with another update, like in the past, so I'm looking forward to the next update.
One specific case has been fixed in 5.569 alpha, not sure whether this resolves your issue but it might!
I just updated to the alpha version, but it didn't completely fix the issue. Now, I have to hover over the icons again to set them back in the normal state.
Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg,
After the issue still exists, I went and updated to the regular version, but it's still not fixed.
So I thought, maybe I could remove the reset property, and apply it back, but not only it didn't fix it, but it also doesn't reset the icon to the white version. It seems the icon has the same color as the background.
Then I thought, I could go the old way and simply change the color of the icon with the Updating ITEM property, but I couldn't, because the button for the icon seems to have no function whatsoever. I also tested it on both the regular version and the alpha version.
Do you have any suggestions?
Could you maybe share your menu? I haven't been able to reproduce this anymore
(you could send it to andreas@folivora.ai or post here)
Hey,
yeah sure, I'll send it to you.
This is what your menu looks like here (v5.595), this look correct, right?
How are you opening up the menu?
This is how it loos for me.
Which BTT & macOS version are you currently on?
I'm on Mac OS 15.6.1 (24G90), and BTT is on version 5.595.
Very strange, what kind of trigger are you using to show the menu?
Could you check whether entering the item that shall be reset UUID? (it should work without the UUID but I can't make any sense of why it works here but not on your machine)
I'm using three finger tab to trigger it.
And I duplicated the whole menu, and that fixed somehow the disappearing of the two icons in the main menu.
But even with the UUID, it behaves the same.
Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg,
I just found the time to look into the issue and tried to fix it, but I had no luck.
I created a completely new menu and added elements to it, like the original menu, to see if it behaves the same, but it didn’t. The elements behave normally when hovered over, as they should. But on my original menu, they don’t.
What I also found weird was that I didn’t add any hover trigger to them, but the menu acts as if there are active triggers in there. So the hover triggers are not necessary after all?
Does it mean I have to recreate all menus again from scratch?
This issue is really weird.
mhh it is indeed weird, would you be able to go to help -> export diagnostic debug information and and send the result to me? (andreas@folivora.ai) that way I'd get the full menu setup - which might contain slightly more state than the export
Hey,
I’ve sent you the results. I hope you can find the solution.
Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg,
I just wanted to ask if you had the time to find something in the debug information I sent you?
Sorry I was away for a bit and just got to look into this.
Unfortunately the menu as it is in your configuration right now is kind of broken, probably because the item reset didn't function correctly. I believe this is already resolved in any newer versions but they won't fix the menu in its broken state anymore.
However the circular menu.bttpreset that you sent to me on September 8 seems to work fine here with newer BTT versions once imported. I'd try this:
1.) delete the broken circular menu
2.) empty your BTT trash to be sure
3.) reimport the circular menu.bttpreset that you sent to me
Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg,
Oh, ok. So, do you think it would also work if I created the menu from scratch again?
Because my circular menu is not the only menu with this issue, but also my second menu.
Yes, or maybe you could roll back to a backup if there is still one.
You could check whether there are database files older than 5.566 in ~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool, if so they could be restored.
@Andreas_Hegenberg Yeah, I think I prefer to create them from scratch. So if there were an error in the backup files, it wouldn’t transfer over.
Is there anything I need to be aware of so it doesn’t happen again?
