Find Advanced Conditions More Easily.

@Andreas_Hegenberg BTT’s feature set is constantly growing. That’s great! On the other hand, it’s getting harder and harder to find things.

Example: Advanced Conditions. I can search for a condition (in this case, “switcher”). Then I know, okay, it exists. But where?

I don’t know if this is possible, but it would be really convenient if the condition were inserted by double-clicking on the search result. Or if the menu opened in the right place.

Maybe you have an even better idea

this time really a ventura issue  on modern macOS you can click on them

It is definitely time to upgrade!

Oh, really? What happens after the click?

a condition with the variable is added to the list and can be configured

I guess the issue is maybe just that Ventura does not contain the necessary button icon, I'll check whether I can add a fallback icon

That would be very kind of you :folded_hands:

An update would be a real pain. With Ventura, the trackpad can speed up. As far as I know, that's not the case with later os.

Unless, of course, you could find a way to do it with BTT

are you sure the trackpad is too slow with the max system settings? (I never felt it being too slow)

But yes that is no longer possible on modern macOS

Maybe because you've never tried to see how much faster it could feel

Just to give you an idea, below is a screenshot from the CursorSense app. This is what the setting would look like if you set the speed to the highest level in macOS.

And that's the setting I use

unfortunately I think all attempts to do this are blocked on modern macOS. Would require to disable SIP, which is not worth it.

How dangerous is it, really, to turn off SIP? I asked an AI and got this answer. Would you say that's an accurate summary?

yes, I would never disable SIP on a production machine. It is a very powerful protection.

What is a “production machine”?

I don't want to waste your time, but if you have a minute...

Security with SIP: sehr hoch
Security without SIP: Niedriger

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is "sehr hoch".

What does “Niedriger” mean? 9 or 5 or 1?

it is hard to say. SIP is a "second layer defense", in a first step somehow malicious software still needs to get onto your system.

I believe especially because of the enormous impact of AI in security research / hacking (it has gotten much much easier to find security issues with AI), having these system protections enabled is really important.

However I'd guess running macOS 13 with SIP enabled is still worse than running macOS 27 with SIP disabled due to the other security enhancements in these newer versions.

Good, then I can feel free to disable SIP with Ventura. Because there are a few other apps that need it to work.

Whether something is catastrophically insecure or horrendously insecure doesn't really matter, does it? :joy:

that is NOT the conclusion I wanted you to reach :joy:

I know  I'll have to update. It's just really painful to lose CursorSense.

good news, I found a way to increase the speed at least on macOS 27 (and I believe all other macOS versions). However as I have never used the other tools I can not say whether it feels the same way as on older macOS versions.

My man  Are you going to try to implement that? I'd be happy to test it with Ventura. If that doesn't work, I'd be happy to update to OS 27.

you can try it with 6.814 once it finishes uploading:

I just tried it. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any effect, at least not with Ventura.

did you make sure to quit cursorsense? (make sure it is also not running in activity monitor anymore)

Luckily it seems to work well on Golden Gate
