File Open Dialog Bug - Folders Grayed Out

Hello,

I am encountering a problem with the file open dialog in the floating web view. When I try to open a file, the folders in the sidebar appear grayed out and I cannot select them. This prevents me from accessing the files.

Attached below is a video showing the issue.

Best regards,

I think this is related to the window level set for the webview, can you check what window level you are using?

I tried changing the Window Level parameter several times without it affecting the problem.

you are right, the window level doesn't seem to matter.

However like for the other issue I'm unable to reproduce it here , I just checked with the google image search file picker.

They could even be the same issue - something seems to steal focus from BTT. This would also explain your Finder issue with the context menu. Maybe some action configured in BTT that is executed when the focused window changes? Do you maybe have any such triggers in "Automations, Named & Other Triggers" in BTT?

Maybe go to Help => Export Diagnostic Debug Information and send the result to andreas@folivora.ai, then I could try with your exact setup. I think something is somehow interfering

Okay, I sent you the results of the Diagnostic Debug Information by email. Thank you

Here are the automations, named triggers, and others that I am currently using.

Thank you!
Unfortunately even with your setup both things (context menu & file open) seem to work fine here ;-(

Can you think of any other app that could conflict? Maybe something related to window management or automations?

Hi,

I am reaching out to you regarding the issue with the file selection dialog box, which persists despite my testing.

I conducted tests on a clean installation with the latest version of macOS and BetterTouch on another computer, and the problem is still present. During the first call to the dialog box, it is impossible to interact with the sidebar to select a favorite folder when selecting a file. However, during a second call, the dialog box works correctly.

Additionally, I also tested the behavior in guest session, and the problem is also present there.

Is there a solution or possible workaround?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Andreas,

I don't know if you fixed the bug, but the issue seems to be resolved in the latest alpha version 5.266. There are no more problems with the dialog box for importing files.

Thank you for fixing the bug.

ah in that case it was most likely related to Floating menus to behave like a normal window + few other observations - #2 by Andreas_Hegenberg
