Duplicate Midi Trigger

Version 4.664 (46640)

Midi logs duplicate signals from single device. System logs single midi event; BTT logs two exact same events. Also shows duplicate device in midi settings with only one device plugged in.

Mac Studio
Apple M1 Ultra
Sonoma 14.5

System Midi Monitor Shows one event; BTT shows two

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: Mac Studio
  • macOS version: Sonoma 14.5
  • BetterTouchTool version: Version 4.664 (46640)

Removed Apple script causing crash. One Midi Trigger sends space to Music app to play/pause music, but the duplicate midi behavior happens with all triggers.

weird, could you check if this still happens if you run this terminal command while BTT is quit?

defaults write com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool BTTIncludeVirtualMIDIDevices NO

Is the device maybe listed twice here?

I'm not sure what that terminal command does, but the duplicate midi signal is only seen in BTT. The program MIDI monitor sees only one midi signal from the Rodecaster.

Yes, the devices is listed twice in the midi device list. I uncheck one, and it unchecks both and visa versa after restarting the program, so it does nothing. Is there a way to get rid of one of those?

This has been driving me crazy for months.

Could you check whether v4.669 helps with this?

I'm on 4.669 and same issue. It seems to be the list of midi devices showing it twice, because if I uncheck one of the devices, it works correctly, but then open the same midi settings again with or without a program restart and both are on or off as I just selected it.

weird! Did you try the terminal command I posted? (While BTT was quit)
The command disables virtual devices for BTT - these have been enabled a few weeks ago.

Yes, I tried the terminal command while BTT was quit, but didn't seem to affect anything. I'm not sure why BTT sees duplicate devices. I tried in on a macbook, and seemed to work how it should. I keep trying different things but haven't figured it out yet.

Ok thanks for testing! I'll check with my MIDI devices tomorrow when I'm in office.

Any ideas about the behavior or possible causes?
