Dragging Windows Lagging with external mouse

Dragging Windows Lagging with an external mouse

Only external mouse affected. It's completely normal when using the trackpad.

Actually, if I connect my mouse using Bluetooth, it will be fine as well. Only wired or 2.4G connections have this problem.

It was okay before. I am not sure when it started happening.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro 16-inch, Nov 2023 Apple M3 Pro
  • macOS version: 15.1 (24B83)
  • BetterTouchTool version: Version 4.843 (2024103014)
  • Mouse: Razer Basilisk V3 Pro

If it is only happening on a specific connection it usually is some interference with some other hardware.

I for example once had big problems with a broken electromagnetic shielding in a LG 5k display. Can you think of any devices nearby that could be the issue?

//edit: ah I missed that wired connection is also causing issues - that is very weird. In that case I'd check whether any process is using a LOT of CPU via Activity Monitor (>= 100%)

But if I turn off the BTT, everything becomes okay.
Also, I think it starts happening recently (maybe yesterday)

CPU usage looks fine (in Activity Monitor or htop)

Very weird issue - especially because it seems to work with Bluetooth.
BTT doesn't differentiate between the various connection methods and should in general not be able to interfere with mouse movement as that is handled on a lower level.

Have you already tried to restart your Mac?

Dang. My bad. Restart the mac solve the problem.

Thanks anyway. Although the root cause might be interesting, I guess you'll be too busy to find out this particular one if it's not even reproducible.

Hi, so after one day, it starts happening again......
It doesn't sound right to reboot my Mac every day in order to solve this :frowning:

Unfortunately I don't know.

Do you have any special mouse drivers installed? I don't think this is related to BTT - however it definitely can happen only while BTT is running due to the way events are processed with multiple event processing processes on macOS

Not I'm aware of.
Anyway, I guess I'll need to disable BTT for a while until the problem can be solved.
