Device information:

  • Type of Mac: M1 Max
  • macOS version: 14.1.2 Sonoma
  • BetterTouchTool version: 5.451 (alpha) (I forgot to write before trying to update on Alpha to check if it would solve the issue.)

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

Suddenly, all Keyboard Shortcut marked with left/right differentiation started triggering with both sides.

That happened mid sentence while I was writing some stuff in Google Docs, and suddenly the left option (used for mac's punctuation) started to trigger the right-option keystrokes.

I've been using these shortcuts for years without any problem, and I have recently updated some of them, but not all.

most likely something on your system enabled "Secure Input Mode" and forgot to disable it. You can click the BTT menubar icon, it will try to show you what app enabled it - but sometimes it can not figure it out, then it will just show "Login Window

That's exactly it. I failed to notice the warning, sorry.

I killed the PID shown, my entire session was killed and my user was logged out (didn't even knew this was possible, tho).

But now everything is just working fine again, thanks.

@Andreas_Hegenberg hello again.

Is this "secure input" a new thing, or do you know if it had any updates recently?

I'm asking this because I use BTT for a long time and I never had this issue before, but now it's happening once a day.

Am I doing something wrong?

(I didn't updated the OS in the past few months, there wasn't any changes in the environment itself.)
