Describe the bug
Caps lock mapped as hyper. If you create a shortcut using hyper-arrow key (ie. hyper-left-arrow) and another not using an arrow key (ie. hyper-enter). You cannot use the hyper-arrow shortcut followed by using the hyper-other-key without first releasing the hyper key. If the same action that was mapped to hyper-arrow is mapped to a non-arrow key, it works without issue.
How is this being used: I mapped hyper-left and hyper-right to Maximize Window (Left/Right) Half. Hyper-Enter is to maximize full screen. I can't fluidly switch the window around between Left/Right and fullscreen without releasing Hyper and it's annoying.
I thought that I’d go back and try hyper again and I’m still experiencing this issue. The only way that I’ve been able to work around this is by mapping my caps lock key to right control in MacOS System Preferences and use that as hyper.
Thought I’d update this just in case anyone else was experiencing this issue. Quite annoying.
What you did (mapping to right control) has always been the best solution for Hyperkey, at least in my opinion. A “real” modifier is likely to work better than four virtual ones. However, this also requires BTT, since only BTT can distinguish between left and right modifiers. The “other” Hyperkey is only needed by those who actually need all these modifiers for their shortcuts.
Another feature that only BTT offers is keyboard blocking. This allows you to set up independent shortcuts without any modifier.
