I would like to be able to make the items in the context menu in the Finder appear based on what is clicked, e.g. if I right-click a directory, so that option A is displayed without option B, while if I click a file with an .app extension, so that option B is displayed, but without option A.
Is this possible?
this is not implemented yet, however it is already on my todo list!
Hello, can I turn finder on/off with a button?
Hiya Andreas,
Is this still on your to-do list?
I'd like to be able to toggle visibility of context menu items based on things like the file extension, and also perhaps via the scripting interface.
For example, I have a 'transcode via handbrake' item that triggers a shell script that gets the current finder selection and transcodes the selected video via handbrakecli. Would be nice to have it show up in the context menu only when a .mp4/.mkv/etc file is selected. Also, I have a 'cancel handbrake transcode' item that executes 'killall handbrakecli'. It would be great to be able to control the visibility of that context-menu item via BTT's scripting interface or via an action. ie. Enabling it's visibility in my shell script when the handbrakecli process starts, and disabling visibility when the transcode is finished.
[note that I am using the context menu items as general triggers for shell scripts, i don't actually use the finder selection variable -- all that is handled in the shell scripts if needed]

lol, i updated to the latest alpha, opened btt's config window to the trigger i was working on earlier and was kind of blown away by the
sudden
madgical
materialization
of the very feature i had just causually commented on a couple hours back.
amaze-balls! it works a treat!
i set UTType to public.movie for my custom finder context-menu item Transcode via Handbrake. And now the custom item stays quiet as a mouse and only appears when video files are selected. v. happy! very useful feature.
