Clipboard Manager disable paste & close when clicking away

I know this isn't a traditional way to use it, but I prefer to use my clipboard as a place I copy FROM and then navigate and choose where to paste TO. So it would be fantastic to have an option to copy and close the Clipboard Manager rather than the default close and paste.

Because of this odd habit, I also sometimes look at the clipboard without needing anything from it, so it would be amazing if there was an option to close Clipboard Manager when clicking outside its window.

Hi @macdot, welcome to the community!

This is how I currently use BTT's Clipboard Manager. I'm able to view my clipboard history in the Clipboard Manager, find an item I want to retrieve, copy it, and then navigate to where I want to paste that item from my clipboard history.

Do you want the Clipboard Manager to automatically close once you've copied an item from your clipboard history?

It's possible to close BTT's Clipboard Manager when clicking outside its window by toggling a setting. The setting can be found within the Clipboard Manager itself:

Side note:
Based on the name of the Show Clipboard / Pasteboard History Action, you would assume that triggering the Action would only show the Clipboard Manager. However, at least for me with my settings, it actually acts like a toggle to show and hide the Clipboard Manager.

Thank you for the reply!

I am currently using the default settings with the BTT Clipboard Manager. When I open it with a trigger, the window displays. If I click a snippet in the list, it simply selects it and does not copy it. If I double click a snippet, it copies it but also (attempts to) paste it, and closes the Clipboard Manager.

I don't see any option to disable the pasting aspect. Ideally, I would like to double click to copy the snippet and have the Clipboard Manager close (as it does now, just without the paste attached).

Are you selecting the snippet and then command-c to copy it? And then it's closing when you click outside the window?

Thank you for the screenshot to enable the close on click outside -- I didn't realize the above option must be disabled before this option could be selected and I was struggling to figure it out.

@macdot To achieve your goal, I suggest you configure the Clipboard Manager settings like so:

Make sure that the Close Clipboard Manager after all actions setting is ticked.
