Chrome tab closes on dragging to quick

Action: Click on a chrome tab and then move the pointer while holding the button.
Expected behavior: Move the tab, either within the window, to create a new window or to an existing new window.
Behavior: Chrome closes the tab.

Workaround: Click the tab, hold the button for a very short delay (0.2s or so is enough) and then move the pointer.
Behavior: Works as expected.

If I quit BTT, it works as expected without the delay.

Direction of the movement doesn’t matter. I’m not touching the X button.

I have a lot of my own presets with my own triggers, but none of those can explain the behavior - especially not with the delay workaround. And I have AquaTouch, but that is for the touchbar, and should not affect normal mouse events. I’ve searched through both without finding any culprit.

BTT: 6.426
MacOS: Tahoe 26.3
Mac: MBP M2 16” 2023

Anything in BTT's recently used section after you do that? (I can drag my chrome tabs fine & fast)

Thanks for the pointer.

I think this is the culprit:

Not sure why it would trigger though, but that double-tap delay fits.

I only have it to disable accidental taps.

False alarm! That was not it.

It was a trigger making one-finger force click act as middle click. And middle click on a tab in Chrome closes that tab.

Apparently I guess I press harder when I’m not being cautious to make sure there’s a delay…

You could adjust the required force:
