When I format text after writing it, I only need a few different styles. You can see them in this menu. It should be self-explanatory. And yes, it’s not pretty, just functional.
Changing Text Styles.bttpreset (283.7 KB)
Select text, press "space" and the menu appears automatically next to the selected text.
For example: “Space” + “M” changes the selected text to magenta. Of course, you can also use the mouse. “Space” closes the menu without doing anything.
I haven’t found a perfect solution for changing styles while writing yet. But this one works pretty well for me. It lets me change styles using the keyboard without having to take my eyes off the screen.
Instead of selecting text and opening the menu, you hold down a key and wait for the action to take place. For example:
Press and hold “M” ---> the text you type next turns magenta
Press and hold “Space” ---> the text you type next returns to the default style
“G” ---> text highlighted in yellow
“J” ---> text highlighted in green
Everything is customized to my needs, but can be changed as desired. All letters are typed when the key is pressed. So there shouldn’t be any problems when typing fast. I don’t know if this works in all RTF text fields, Text Editors, but it should.
Maybe someone will find this useful.
