Cannot start BetterTouchTool

Bugs or Unexpected Behavior

Issue: BetterTouchTool immediately dies on start. The BTTRelaunch process will try to start it back up periodically. The icon flashes in my menu bar. But it does not stay open. I also don't get any OS level crash dialog to capture diagnostics.

Already tried:

  • Restarted computer
  • Download and install a fresh version of BTT
  • Killed BTTRelaunch and restart app

Device: MacOS - Macbook Air M2 - Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93)
BTT Version: I downloaded the latest version from the website as of today (Dec 21, 2024)

can you check whether there is a crashlog in the macOS console app under „crash logs“?

Is this a fresh install of BTT or did it just start happening after some change? (if so, can you remember what you changed last?)
Could you send the contents of this folder to me? (andreas@folivora.ai)

~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool

(go there via Finder => Go => Go to Folder, make sure to include the ~)
