BTT's side menu switches without reason if moving cursor

Actual BTT version.

It is very annoying while trying to make my shortcuts.

I do not click anywhere I just move the mouse.

Did you explicitly reenable the outline list view ui after resetting BTT? (because otherwise it means BTT still has it's old settings)

The outline list view UI is being phased out and hidden by default for all new users since about a year. It is being phased out and doesn't receive updates anymore.

The only supported view mode in BTT is currently the column based one

No, I did not explicitly reenable this. I just went onto the list icon (your 2nd arrow, but the right one).

As this checkbox was on, I disabled it. It looks the same now, but without that flickering.

Now it is broken: the text and visuals are gone. My list is empty.

You should not use that view mode, you need to change to the column based one. (in the state you are now you need to first activate the checkbox again, then switch to the column based view mode)

In general this means your BTT reset did not fully work, it sounds like the ~/Library/Preferences/com.hegenberg.BetterTouchTool.plist file was not deleted.

Okay, I switched over.

Have to admit, that this look is at least to me less clear and readable due the missing fact that they not align horizontal like in an Excel sheet.

I am used to read from left to right and as less my eyes have to jump down and up and down and up, my brain can concentrate better..

I know some users preferred that style, but I was not able to maintain it anymore. Only about 1% of BTT's users used it and because I myself never used it, it became very buggy over time.

Ok!

Would it be possible to get rid of moving boundaries? Other words: can I have absolutely fixed columns? Here they are moving/ nudging all of the times. That would increase my eye speed massively as I know the x-position where the next action will be displayed.

Here's a issue with that view.

I don't now why but it is always the same case, my saved state (or what it is called) is selected already but BTT does not show it. Always I have to click once again. Which is annoying for fast work.

Can I change that?

Okay, maybe it is a bug:

In your screenshot the selected group has focus, so the configuration for the group/folder is shown.

If you don't want the separate actions column you can disable this, then a folder can be opened by double-clicking it (might require a BTT restart):

Solution Nr II. Thank you!

Hi Andreas,

I followed your steps. I made a video to request some visual UI improvements to get faster to my results:

  1. as we had already: BTT changes column sizes - which is annoying for my eyers working 10h/day in front of screens. I used minimum values already and fine-tuned. But smaller size/ fullscsreen/ side-screen etc. produce visual chaos.
  2. When I load BTT up
    1. I get a blank screen in the upper window, which after 1-2 seconds disappears but it comes back always. If you read a PDF and the line you are reading jumps up always, at least me: I get headache.
    2. you see glitches in the column at 8sek. I have them too often.
    3. 11sek: my shortcut is selected already but the right column says still "open selected group" which is wrong. It is not a group anymore. It is a trigger. I must click one more time on it. Now, BTT reacts as it should in the first row and shows everything properly. This behavior is again and again. That's why I am reporting to you.

There are a few other glitches.

I did this video cause I am so happy that I can create a new file now everywhere thanks to BTT. HUGE TIME SAVER. Thank you so much for this. It was sooooo annoying to ask the official Apple Community for this and get old-people answers like "Apple want this this way" "Get used to it" blablabla.

Apple go and integrate BTT.

I improved a few of the things shown in your video with v6.576, especially disabling the "Show Trigger Sections Bar" setting caused some issues.

Downloaded. Brings UX for me to a newer level! Great!
