BTT keeps reopening Spotify

There was some MacOS update this year that sort of broke the now playing widget. And as I remember BTT had some workaround implemented. But ever since that, I'm not able to quit Spotify when BTT is running. It keeps reopening it.

Any ideas?

• Type of Mac: MacBook Pro 13-inch M1
• macOS version: 15.6.1 (24G90)
• BetterTouchTool version: 5.568 But has been happening with all the past versions since that MacOS update.

hi @volke, reading your message, it reminded me of a similar unexpected behavior I experienced with Chrome. Specifically, when BTT was running, Chrome would automatically reopen.

BTT is preventing Google Chrome from shutting down

Problem: The culperate was a "Apple Script / JavaScript Widget" trigger. The following code was being run every second which caused Google Chrome not to stay closed: tell application "Google Chrome" set window_list to every window ... end tell Solution: Only run the script if Google Chrome is running. Modify code like so: set appName to "Google Chrome" if application appName is running then tell application "Google Chrome" set window_list to every window ... end tell end if

However, the root cause may be completely different in your case. I thought I'd share anyway with the off chance it's a similar or same root cause.

I have no clue, but have you checked if in "Recently used/EVERYTHING":

you see something which is triggering Spotify to be re-launched?

Thanks for sharing that. I went though all the triggers that have just tell application "Spotify"... and replaced it with the one from your post if application "Spotify" is running...
I can't tell for sure but it might not be hanging as frequently as before. Let's see.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even know of that option. I went through it but didn't notice anything new appearing after Spotify quits and restarts on its own.
