BTT crashes within Floating Menu when using "Reset Floating Menu / Item Properties"

Hi Andreas,

I wanted to use the "Update Floating Menu ITEM properties" action to make the item I hover slightly bigger.

Describe the bug

  • BTT crashes reproducible when using the Floating Menu attached at the bottom
  • It seems to be because of the "Update Floating Menu ITEM properties" action
  • See also vidoe for details

I could work around the problem by using another "Update Floating Menu ITEM properties" action instead of the "Reset Floating Menu / Item Properties" action.

Seems that the "Reset Floating Menu / Item Properties" action is responsible for the crash.

Hi Andreas,

did you already had the chance to look into the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item properties"?

I have a workaround, but it is very complex to always do it with the action "Update Floating Menu ITEM properties", I guess that is why the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item properties" was introduced (!?)

I stumbled across another unexpected behavior with the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item properties": When I use it for a Floating Menu (not an item, like in the first post) it just does nothing.

My current UseCase:

  • I am working on a hierarchical action ring
  • when clicking on one of the items, it opens another action ring (and closes the first)
  • When I click into the middle of the second Action Ring, the first Action Ring should open at the previous position
  • I do this with the action "Update Floating Menu ITEM properties" and a offset in "Position on Screen"
  • Afterwards I want use the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item properties" to get rid of the X/Y offset
  • But this does not work

Do you have any hints on that one?

Bonus:
I found another UI-clitch in the action "Update floating menu properties":

  • The checkmark at "Use blurred background" cannot be unchecked (see video)

Thank you and have a great weekend.

Best regards,
Volker

Inspired by this thread (Floating menus background - #5 by Volker) I did some more research and found out that the misbehavior with the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item Properties" can only be reproduced if you use a "Circular Layout" with the option "Allow Hover on Whole Pizza slice" active. See video for details.

Thank you for the feedback, Volker. I have experimented around with pizza slices and, for now, chose not to use them. But when I do take a circular layout and enable those settings I get some very strange behavior. Also notice that when I close the menu then reopen it, everything seems fine.

Not yet, I'll check tomorrow!

No worries Andreas - you can take your time.

Meanwhile you can focus your investigation into the action "Reset Floating Menu / Item properties" in a
"Circular Layout" with the option "Allow Hover on Whole Pizza slice" activated.

I managed to solve this challenge with the actions "Save/Restore Mouse Position ".

I will share my Menu later this week with the community - just some final polishing.

Best regards,
Volker
