BTT Clipboard Manager Development & Wishlist

On Version: 5.455 (2025061003) after edit and CMD+Y, BTT CM's search field is not longer in focus upon next CM show:

Steps:

  1. Select any item, go to right side to edit
    (2. Previously CMD + S was needed to confirm/save the changes, but now CMD+S is acting as "Save as" instead of confirm/save the changes. Is this expected?)
  2. CMD + Y
  3. Paste works now
  4. Open BTT CM again and try to search - search field is not on focused

I guess that the issue is that the focus/selection stays on the element previously focused, e.g. the Start icon or "All items", this happens even without any searches etc.:

  1. Open CM
  2. Use Tab key to select any element
  3. Close CM
  4. Open CM, focused element is the one in step 2 instead of the search field

5.457 should focus the item list after showing the clipboard manager, then searching should work after opening - regardless of how it was closed.

Will be online in 15 min

Hm, on my end it still behaves like I've described in my previous post.

Weird, it seems to work fine here in 5.457. I'll post a screen capture later, maybe you can see what I'm doing differently

Here's a screen capture on my end:

How did you switch the focus to the favorites button in that capture?

Using Tab key

ah thanks! I accidentally disabled one code path with the recent refactorings. Should be resolved in 5.458!

With 5.460 the showing / hiding should now also make use of the new architecture I have implemented. It should now really be almost instant. Everything is now loaded lazily even if you have tens of thousands of items performance should not be impacted. Memory usage is also reduced signifcantly.

Focus issue is resolved now.
CMD+S also saves the edit instead of "Save as".
Showing/hiding is really feeling instant! Thank you!

I think however that some of the new version introduced the following weird behavior:

hehe you are basically removing the item from the search results by removing the matched text. I'll make it so it only does that once it is saved.

For some reason, the search with this version doesn't work as expected (like before?) sometimes unless you have implemented some fuzzy matching, e.g.:

From the above screenshot I think only the item marked in red should match the search. You can also see that the last item, does not have anything related with the search.

Good catch, the cache wasn't invalidated correctly. Should search correctly again in 5.462 once it is uploaded

Yeah, the search works again. Thanks.

Regarding the behavior shown in the screen capture here, I think I'm not removing the "matched text" because I'm editing and at 18 sec you can see that the characters on the right panel are "t1e", and no element is having "finish editing" button, but when I delete the "e", and the string becomes "t1" the "Duplicate / create copy of item when editing" item is show, which doesn't makes sense. Hopefully you understood me  .

I'm nit-picking a bit, but the table/middle panel is not syncing with the right panel on edit:

It is always showing 1 character more than the right panel .

Another one:

Shortcut for deleting an item is CMD + backspace, but even only backspace works, is this expected? I think CMD + backspace makes sense, but only backspace - it is too risky.

it is currently expected, but I think you are right- only cmd+backspace would be better - or maybe I‘ll make it configurable via the he CAG and default to cmd+ backspace

Hi Andreas, i just wanted to ask 2 things that i didn´t found on the forum search:

  1. on BTT's CM, there is a way to navigate thru the snippets groups with keyboard shortcuts?

  2. it is posible to put a name to the snippet item, to make it different to the snippet item content?

Regarding 1 - I think I've also asked this, but I think it is not currently possible. My workaround is to use "Interact With / Click Specific Ul Element" like this:

Regarding 2 - I think no, but I might be wrong.

Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg , I think after you implemented this "new architecture" I'm facing the following:

  1. Open CM and search
  2. "Copy & move to top" the desired item which also closes the CM
  3. Open the CM again and for some milliseconds the result of the previous search (step 1) is shown. Here's a video, around the 5th second you can see what I'm talking about:

Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg I'm missing the app icon in front of the screengrab in the CM:

Also why is the date/time stamp not under every entry?
