BTT Clipboard Manager brings other window (on second screen) to foreground

Hi Andreas,
I found a interesting behavior and it seems to be based on the usage of the BTT Clipboard Manager.

Describe the bug

  • I have two Powerpoint files opened.
  • PPT1 on my left screen and PPT2 on my right screen
  • On the right screen I focus my Browser (PPT2 is behind)
  • When I paste via CMD + v into PPT1 everything is fine
  • When I use the BTT Clipboard Manager to paste into PPT1 the PPT2 on the right screen comes to foreground

Screenshots
edit: video has only captured one screen - I'll try to record it again.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro M4
  • macOS version: 26.6.2
  • BetterTouchTool version: 6.780

Another recording - it does not seem to depend on the second screen:

Unfortunately for some apps it is not possible to activate just a specific window for pasting. That's why they will bring up all other windows belonging to them (because BTT needs to activate the app to make sure the correct window & app receives the paste event)

Thanks for your explanation. This behavior is really frustrating, since I always have multiple windows open in parallel and when I want to copy & paste between browser and ppt it's really annoying.

Nevermind, I guess you have implemented it based on your long lasting experience with the BTT Clipboard Manager. Maccy does not seem to have this behavior - but maybe Maccy therefore somehow fails to paste correctly - I don't know.

Best regards,
Volker

I think Maccy never needs to activate it's window as it works from the menubar, correct? (haven't used that myself)

Maccy has also a window (see screenshot) similar to the BTT Clipboard Manager. But maybe it's not a real window that let's the PPT loose focus!?

With the BTT Clipboard Manager opened, it seems that the focus is still on the PPT (see the titlebar on the screenshot) - pretty similar to Maccy.

There is another way to bring only a specific window to front, but it had glitches on some macOS versions - I'm not quite sure how it behaves on current. I can add an option for the clipboard manager to use that, maybe it works well nowadays.

I would love to give it a try and report feedback.

Try with 6.787 alpha (uploading now), it defaults to this for current macOS versions,.
