See subject line

Bug Report: UI Focus Loss & Navigation Glitches in Nested Group Triggers

Environment & System Info

  • BetterTouchTool Version: 6.737

  • macOS Version: macOS Tahoe 26.5.2

  • Hardware: MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), Apple M1 Pro, 32 GB RAM

Description of Issues

  1. 2nd-Level Sub-Triggers List Search Box Focus Loss:

    • Issue: When trying to type into the search bar within a nested/2nd-level trigger group, the input field drops focus after a single character is typed.

    • Behavior: Attempting to search immediately halts input after one keystroke, making it impossible to type full search queries into the sub-level search field regardless of click/selection method.

  2. 3rd-Level Sub-Triggers Selection & UI Instability:

    • Issue: Selecting or attempting to edit any trigger item within a deeper (3rd-level) nested list causes severe UI rendering and state-selection bugs.

    • Behavior: Clicking a trigger fails to keep it selected, unexpectedly clears out the selection, or jumps visually to an incorrect item/pane instead of opening the expected trigger details.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open BetterTouchTool Settings and navigate to a trigger configuration tab with nested group triggers.

  2. Open a 2nd-level nested group and attempt to type multiple characters into its search bar. (Observe: Input stops after 1 character).

  3. Drill down into a 3rd-level nested trigger group.

  4. Attempt to click or edit any trigger in this list. (Observe: Selection clears out, UI jumps unexpectedly, and action configuration pane fails to display correctly).

Expected Behavior

  • The search input field should retain focus and accept multi-character search queries across all nested group levels.

  • Triggers in 3rd-level sub-groups should remain selected when clicked and accurately display their corresponding configuration settings in the right-hand panel.
