BetterTouchTool won't work on a VMWare Fusion 12 virtual Mojave machine

I can't get BTT to work on a VMWare Fusion virtual machine. This is what I've done so far:

  • Installed VMWare Fusion 12 on the Catalina host machine.
  • Set up a Mojave virtual machine within Fusion.
  • Installed BTT on the Mojave virtual machine.
  • I can launch BTT and set up gestures for my magic mouse, but none of them work, neither for Finder, nor for Safari, nor for my CAD software. (The CAD software is the most important, and it's also the reason for working with a virtual Mojave machine in the first place, because it's 32-bit.)

I've tried toying with various Fusion settings, and I also have BTT installed on the Catalina host machine, but I haven't had any luck yet.

Does anyone have experience getting BTT to run on a Fusion virtual machine?

Thanks, Bob
