I purchased BetterTouchTool about two years ago with two years of updates, and my update period has now expired.
Recently, BetterTouchTool has been intermittently showing the message “BetterTouchTool is currently disabled (see below)”, as shown in the attached screenshot, and it stops working completely.
Restarting BetterTouchTool does not fix the issue.
Interestingly, if I click “Configuration” and open the BetterTouchTool settings window, it starts working again. However, as soon as I switch focus back to another window, the BetterTouchTool menu bar icon turns orange and BTT stops working again.
This has been happening much more frequently lately.
Could this be related to my update license having expired, or is there another setting or issue that could cause BetterTouchTool to automatically become disabled like this?
I’m currently using BetterTouchTool 6.194 (2026021112).
Thank you! I found that the “Completely disable BetterTouchTool” option was enabled specifically for Google Chrome. After disabling that option, BetterTouchTool is working properly again.
However, it’s a bit strange because on days when everything was working normally, I was able to use BetterTouchTool in Chrome without any issues. Today, I noticed that this option was enabled, even though I don’t remember enabling it myself.
Anyway, if this happens again in the future, I’ll make sure to check this option first.
