BetterTouchTool hangs whole system

Thanks for creating BTT. I really enjoy using it :slight_smile:

Describe the bug

When I start BTT with my old profile my whole system will stop responding and I have to shut it down. I can repeat this as often as I want. When BTT is a login item every login will fail like this. A different user or a new profile works fine.

When I try to copy the old profile I get this message:


I can send you an 11 minute long video showing the problem. I also have the Console output of that time period.

My expected behavior is that BetterTouchTool does not start if there is a problem with the profile. And not to hang my whole system.

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009)
  • macOS version: 10.11.6 (15G22010)
  • BetterTouchTool version: 3.346 (1554)

The way to fix the broken login: start "Single User Mode" and move ~/Library/Application Support/BetterTouchTool away.
