Automation for ‘Open Recent ‘

Hi Andreas,
Is there a way for BTT to extract any app’s Last Opened files? I have been experimenting quite a bit but nothing really works. Assigning a keycommand to ‘Trigger Menu Bar Menu-Item’ (File;Open Recent;(1)) comes closest but during the last half year it has only worked a few times, and only on specific apps. Plus, you don’t know exactly beforehand which file will open. I know you can Ctrl+Click an app in the dock for a listing but my dock is hidden by default, plus it would cost me a couple of clicks.

In an ideal world it would be a Flaoting menu with buttons for let’s say 10 of the most recent items. Do you have any ideas?

ps: off-topic but maybe valuable for other people: I recently switched over to BTT’s native support for StreamDeck. It took some time to reprogram all the buttons but it was very much worth it, the system is more stable now and I can feel that the response of the buttons is much more snappy. Deleted the less than brilliant ElGato software😀

Unfortunately, there are apps that persistently refuse to open certain menus.

I don't know if this will help you, but this is how I do it

The three down arrows go to the third position in the menu. The arrow to the right opens the “Recent" menu and leaves it open. Now I can choose which document I want to open. In my experience, this workaround always works.

Wow, just as simple as it is effective, thanks Frank!
