All Inputs blocked/have no effect - Except mouse cursor and power button

Describe the bug
Today after launching an installer for Rekordbox - which asked it if could access remote volumes and I clicked yes - I could no longer click on anything and typing on my internal and external keyboards and input devices had no effect. I could see my screen updating and touching the power button did bring up the login screen. I could still use Touch ID to get back into my MacBook, but even the login screen didn't take inputs otherwise. I tried to Screen Share into my MacBook but that had the same behavior. I ended up ssh'ing into the MacBook and running sudo killall BetterTouchTool which immediately fixed the issue.

This was the 2nd time this happened on my MacBook in the past few weeks (I don't recall what triggered it the first time). And also my friend had the SAME issue on his brand new MacBook Air during the initial installation of BetterTouchTool.

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.): MacBook Keyboard / Trackpad

MacBook Keyboard / Trackpad
External USB Keyboard
Magic Trackpad
Logitech Mouse

Device information:

Additional information (e.g. crash logs, related issues, etc.):

did you install BetterTouchTool by downloading from https://folivora.ai or via tools like brew?

There have been a handful of users with similar issues since macOS 26.3 or 26.4 - afaik all of them installed via brew.

Unfortunately the issue is mostly out of BTT‘s control, it seems to be a bug in the macOS tcc handling, that was introduced by one of the dot releases.

Both me and my friend installed with brew. Are you saying that if we uninstall and install manually it may help? I'll try it.

yep, it must be somehow related to how brew installs the app - I guess somehow it confuses the permissions database

I installed from folivore.ai, but it downloaded an older version and the update screen looks wrong? It's not showing the correct changelog

ah that’s fine the changelog hasn’t changed, the newer builds only contain minor adjustments
