Ability to change the monitor and mode in which a new window opens on anapp

Hi everyone,

I am interested in buying a tool in order to help me an issue I have with my browser app (Arc Browser) and I would like to assess whether BetterTouchTool/BetterSnapTool would be the right tool for me. The situation is that I usually work with two monitors. I will have my Arc Browser full screen on my secondary monitor. If I then in the dock of my primary monitor click on "New window", this opens up a new window as a full-screen on my secondary monitor. However, I don't want a second full screen on my secondary monitor, but I would like to open the window on my primary monitor in non-full screen mode.

Would the above situation be configurable with BetterTouchTool/BetterSnapTool to override the behaviour of where a new window opens and in what mode? And if not, would you know an alternative?

All input very welcome  Thank you!

The solution I'm proposing is based on shortcut and not on clicking on the dock, if you are OK with that attached is the tigger. Short explanation:

  1. Since I do not have ARC installed I've tested with Firefox.
  2. "CMD + N" is the default shortcut for New Window for Firefox, so if this is different for ARC please change it.
  3. You might want to change the configuration for "Move/Resize" action, at the moment the new window have 800px X 800px size and it is being moved/offset (X and Y) by 300px when moved to the main/primary monitor.
  4. Place this trigger under "For All Apps" so that this shortcut is valid no matter the active app.

Hope that helps. If you must use the dock to open new window let me know, if I have time I'll try to figure that out.

Hello xidiot, thank you very much for your help! This is awesome, I just bought BTT and I am actually by how good it is to such advanced flows.

In the end my flow looked like this:

If you have an idea how to intercept the dock click would be also cool, but I am already very glad with this.

Thanks and good weekend!
