I am using the three finger swipe down gesture to open a floating menu.
It has worked smoothly up until (I think; at least it seems to have started around that time) the macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 update that came about July 2026, roughly.
It still works but now most of the times I need to make four or more swipes until BTT triggers.
I have the Mission Control gesture in use - three fingers swipe UP - but I had that before already when the BTT gesture was working smoothly...
I use it on:
MacBook Air 15" M2 2023, macOS 26.5.2
Better Touch Tool 6.651 (2026072005) alpha
Update, restart, reboot... no change.
Doeas anyone have this issue too or can anyone help?
Can you post a screenshot of your action configuration? (Or if you can send an export of your preset to andreas@folivora.ai, then I can try to reproduce it here)
What kind of floating menu are you trying to shown, is it positioned in a specific way?
thanks for sending your menu, unfortunately it works fine here and seems to show with every swipe.
Could you do one more thing: reproduce the issue then immediately go to Help => Export Basic Debug Logs and send these to me as well? Maybe they show why the menu is not showing.
Hey... unfortunately the problem persits even with recent app updates.
But just now I found something: When I switch desktops - for example by going to Mission Control - the menu will not launch at first on the other desktop. I can reproduce this reliably. After x tries the app launcher will open and then keep opening reliably. Until I switch desktops again; and so on...
Sometimes but not 100 % reliable the app launcher will not open after I opened a new window (of any kind).
So we know that the BTT gesture does always fire but the connection to the corresponding launch of a hovering menu is unreliable.
When I switch desktops the connection fails in all cases - until it once works again, after which it will keep working reliably until desktops are switched again.
That's what I found out today...
Edit, to clarify: By app launcher I mean a hovering menu built in BTT.
I know I should not reply to a solved issue but I just need to.
Andreas, you are the man! I just clicked and swiped and tried all I could to make it NOT work - but it workes like it did back in the days. Problem soved. Thank you Sir! Tausend Dank, Mann!
Ok, here is one little thing: Occasionally it takes two swipes to invoke. In maybe 98 % of the cases it resaponds on the first swipe, the rest on the second swipe... this is fine for me.
