3 finger click + middle click not working as expected

BTT newbie here, I'm coming from MagicPrefs and I'm trying BTT on Catalina.
I'm trying to get the same behaviour that I had in MagicPrefs for the 3 fingers middle click.
I use it a lot especially on Safari for opening links in another tab (same as cmd-clicking a link).

So I set up the 3 finger click trigger in BTT, then I assigned "middle click".
It seems to work partially, because I can't feel the click in my magic trackpad.
it seems like a tap, not a click.
I also had a look at advanced options and tried assigning "additional haptic feedback" but no luck.

Can you guys recommend a simple and working setup to get a 3 fingers middleclick with normal click and not just "tap"?

thanks!

I, too, am having issues with Middle Click assignments on Catalina. I use Chrome, but much like you, I need to open links in new tabs WITHOUT using my other hand on the keyboard (Cmd+click).

I just wanted to concur with your post that BTT has not mastered the Middle Click behavior as MagicPrefs once had mastered. It appears to be this new Catalina OS.

Try disabling "Use trackpad gesture to zoom" in Accessibility Settings > Zoom > Advanced > Controls.

Worked for me on M1 Macbook Air on Big Sur.

Edit: looks like this doesn't work for everyone.

Nope already off not working for me.

Would sure be nice to be able to middle click.
