When I grew up, as a rule, nerds generally got bullied, beaten and marginalized, as did those with questionable heteronormativity as well as most others not fitting into squares. Having keenly observed the socializations of present-day youth, I've ascertained with reasonable certainty that such misbehaviour no longer, as a rule, gets rewarded and, on the flip side, is typically criticized. Actually, nowadays many such previously marginalized groups and bullied individuals are the new cool! Such things re-kindle my heart with hope for this species of ridiculously self-aggrandizing ground-monkeys that are us.
