Hi,
Space key stops working from time to time. After restarting BTT it works again.

I went over all my Keyboard Shortcuts and Key Sequences / Typed Words (have NONE of these) settings and configuration and couldn't find one that involves the Space key.

How can I troubleshoot this and fix it, it's really annoying. ty :pray::green_heart:

First of all, I have no idea. What do you see in the “Recently Used” section?

Otherwise, I would try to be as systematic as possible. If this happens in all apps:

I would set up this shortcut: All apps, space = space, “prevent recursive triggers”. If space is already assigned globally, a conflict menu should appear.

If this only happens in certain apps, I would only set up the shortcut in these apps. Because app-specific triggers overwrite global ones.

However, as far as I know, key sequences do not produce a conflict menu. So that wouldn't help.

In the end I am back at the beginning, unfortunately I have no idea.

I went through it, found no evidence of a shortcut activating when this is happening. Now i see multiple reports with this issue, so it might be something from BTT, maybe one update that broke something or an macOS update (running Sequoia 15.2 here)

Funny fact: just when I prepared to reply to you here it started to do it again, so I had a bit of time to look at what triggered before restarting BTT

:bangbang: What I noticed now, when trying to send you the archive: the arrows are also not working, anything related to them in Finder was not working (browsing folders with CMD+:arrow_up: or CMD+:arrow_down:, SHIFT+:arrow_left:/:arrow_right:, etc)

Hey @Andreas_Hegenberg, this is still a thing. I had to stop using BTT because it is happening more often.

If you have any ideas, pls let me know. ty :pray::green_heart:

unfortunately I couldn’t find anything weird in your logs ;-(

Maybe some conflict with some other keyboard related app?

Using Alfred, and Rectangle - from those I think can interact with BTT.

But why it started to do it in the last month or so?

Fam, I am sorry - had to quit using BTT because of this. Idk what the cause is, could be incompatibility, could be something else.

Have you tried to set a shortcut space = space?
