single quote translated into the wrong single quote

Describe the bug

single quotes do not paste correctly

code compliant single quotes are pasted as some other type of single quote more commonly used in non coding text editors

Affected input device (e.g. MacBook Trackpad, Magic Mouse/Trackpad, Touch Bar, etc.):

Touch bar button that pastes text

Device information:

  • Type of Mac: High Sierra
  • macOS version: 10.3.6
  • BetterTouchTool version: 2.6.41

Additional information (e.g. StackTraces, related issues, screenshots, workarounds, etc.):

workaround: i had to copy a single quote and paste it into the settings box

Note: Before bug reporting, please make sure you have the latest version of BetterTouchTool and that you have already tried to restart your system :-). If you encounter a crash, please attach a crash log from the macOS Console.app from the "User Diagnostic Reports" section.

For anyone experiencing this on macOS, I found a native solution to get system-wide unformatted quotes!
Go to Sys Prefs > Keyboard > Text.
You can either:
a). Remove smart quotes and dashes.
b). Or in the "for single/double quotes" select menu, choose the last option.

And voila, single and double quote bliss!
