I installed BTT but can't get it to work. From left to right, the touch bar shows an "esc" button, a grayed out "Configure In" button, and a "Extensions Preferences" button. On the right side of the touch bar the BTT button is shown. Whenever I add a button it doesn't appear in the touch bar. I assume that there is some configuration issue that is preventing this from working. Any ideas? I am running Mojave 10.14.2. Sorry for the dumb question, but I just can't figure this out!
I think you may have configured your Touch Bar to show Quick Actions in System Preferences => Keyboard.
If you want to use BTT you need to set it to "App Controls" + Control Strip
