I've spent a few hours trying various methods to press just the hyperkey using a gesture from the trackpad. I've tried multiple ideas with no avail. BTT suggests to use key sequences. I don't seem to be able to get it to work. Any ideas or help appreciated.
I can tell you what I do in a similar way with the trackpad. Example for the letter F:
-
When typing normally, 2 fingers do NOT touch the trackpad. So, as expected, F is typed.
-
When I place two fingers on the trackpad and then press F, something else is triggered. It needs two triggers.
What I'm trying to say is that if you don't really need all these modifiers (hyperkey), you can still trigger everything you want in this way with the trackpad.
I get that. My use case is where I have decided to use the app Leader key as my system interface. I use BetterTouchTool for many things but I have used it to assign the Caps lock key as my leader key. My problem is that I need to trigger the caps lock from somewhere else, preferably the track pad as that is often my free hand. I appreciate the help.

Sometimes it can be necessary to perform a complicated shortcut with just one hand. In this case, it helps to do it in two steps. For example, perform a trackpad gesture or press a key (modifier) and then press another key.
I was not aware that this works quite well.
The action “Wait for key press” waits for “Q” here.
So, a trackpad gesture followed by “Q” can trigger Hyper + Q, for example, or any other shortcut.
Thanks.
